    what im interestet to is ........how long does the setup for such a part take..for a skilled machinist in turning and milling ????? i would guess about 16 hours from drawing to first good part ?????? i dunno, pls tell

    These machines are like a fine Swiss watch and a fighter jet rolled into one. No consideration for cost is made when these machines are manufactured. They are made entirely on an individual basis, and every single component used is the finest quality available. The base of the machine is designed to take massive forces- more than twice the force it would take to break the heaviest tool it can handle. No other mill-turn centers in their size class are capable of sub-micron accuracy; any other would require extra work in a different machine if such tolerances are required. An exclusive patented feature is a high-precision NC boring head operated straight from the turret, allowing sub-micron precision boring and turning of large outside diameters which cannot otherwise be performed without extra equipment.

      and yet they are overpriced as fuck.... the cost of manufacturing and research is like 30% of total price. but the manufacturers use the fact that the user will earn insane amount of profit from it (usually).

    Im wondering , with that much heaving machining, alot of material cutt off, the part has to lay to rest for a day or two because of tensions in the material which will make the part live in its own way you know what i mean.. if its stainless or alloy steel we usually let the part rest after we have rough machined it.

    Its a real part, most of the crankshaft are made by foundry and then machined to the right dimension and tolerances, (mass production), others, like for heavy equipment or high performance engines, are machined, like this one.

    Incredible just how much work goes into this shaft. i suspect there will come a day when these shafts will no longer be made since electric cars will be more and more in demand. You'd think that oil companies would come to terms with it and invest in Raphial Morgado's mighty engine.

    @KEVINPOTTS1000 You replace it, step the program back to where the breakage happened, and start the program from that point. If you damaged the part, then it will have to be repaired offline or scrapped if too badly damaged. Thats the price of manufacturing!

    cranks for mass productions are forged, then machined on dedicated machines, (usually more than one), main reason, keep price low. Cranks that cant be forged, (special steels or low production numbers), need to be done this way, machined down from round bar, if this is the case, then you will not find any other machine that's capable to do the job like this. Its not the cheapest way to make a crankshaft, but this are not cheap cranks anyway!

    the crankshaft is probably for a prototype engine.These kind of machines are particularly useful as they eliminate a lot of special machinery for very small quantity items.Definately this machine cannot be used for mass production of the item shown in the video,special machines have to be used

    @stupidYOOTUBE car crank shafts are made a lot faster and they have special machines. this is probabaly a crakshaft for a boat or excavator or something else.... as far as i know ;)

    Actually, Iscar & Ingersoll are into the same group, they are both owned by the same company. I am not aware of the problem you had or never heard about it from any customer, maybe a bad screw production? after 6 months, it happened again?

    Besides the Millturn M120 is this the best Machine from WFL. All the customers I trained on these machines are happy now with the machine tool from WFL. Sometimes I made them customized cycles and designed special tools.
